Ancestor - Donald McBain
Hi
My ancestor, Donald McBain was born about 1766 in Kiltarlity. He moved away and married Margaret Grant (b.1768, North Berwick). I can't find any records anywhere regarding his parentage or indeed anything else. Can anyone in Kiltarlity help? I'll be in Inverness this coming summer if the records are held locally.
Many thanks
Gordon

Newell Family
I am seeking any information about my Great great Grandfather George Newell, who worked at Beaufort Castle as the Butler between 1858 to around 1871. George and his family, i believe, lived at Butlers Cottage close to the Black Bridge in Old Kiltarlity. He had a son, Thomas, who at the age of 13 was killed in the waterwheel of the sawmill which I believe is on the riverbank also by Black Bridge.Any information regarding possible archive material from Beaufort Castle would be most appreciated (early photos of staff etc.)
Regards, Phil.

Thomas Nairne
I am searching for information on my late grandfather, Thomas Nairne. Born in Glasgow, he and his brother were boarded out with the Fraser family in 1901, when he was 5. We have no info on his early years at all, apart from that fact. Does anybody know anything?
